Our speech pathologists have worked both in the public and private sectors and have many years of experience working with children presenting with a wide range of speech, language, and learning difficulties. As a practice, we work with children as young as 6 months up to the early years of high school.
Alexis Hlorotiris
Practice Director
Alexis completed her Masters of Speech and Language Pathology at the University of Sydney. Alexis is a passionate and experienced speech pathologist who has worked in private practice for many years, supporting children from toddlers through to early high school. She loves helping children grow their communication skills, with special interests in preschool language development, speech sounds, pre-literacy skills, primary literacy skills and written language development, and social communication.
As a mum to two young boys, Alexis brings a warm, practical, and family-centred approach to her work.
India Patten
Speech Pathologist
India holds a Bachelor of Speech Pathology from the Australian Catholic University in North Sydney. She has worked at the Australian Centre for the Advancement of Literacy and brings experience across both clinical and school settings, supporting children from early language through to high school. Her areas of interest include speech sound disorders, literacy, early language development, and the Lidcombe Program for early stuttering intervention. India is also a trained Hanen Therapist.
After over a decade living in the US, India has returned to Sydney, where she continues to nurture her creative side through classical ballet.
Lynne Lee
Speech Pathologist
Lynne obtained her Bachelor of Speech Therapy from Queensland University and has worked in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney as a speech pathologist for over 20 years. She is a trained Hanen Therapist in programs (More Than Words and It takes Two to Talk). Lynne also has specialist training in the Lidcombe Program for Young Stutterers and in voice techniques for children and adult who are experiencing voice issues.
Paula Jones
Speech Pathologist
Paula graduated with a Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Sheffield University (UK) in 1995 and soon after moved to Sydney to begin her career. She worked at Macquarie University for 13 years before joining Mosman Language and Learning Centre in 2008.
Paula enjoys working with very young children and is Hanen-trained in It Takes Two to Talk and More Than Words. She is also trained in the Lidcombe Program for young children who stutter. Her other areas of interest include articulation, receptive and expressive language, early literacy, and behaviour management.
Outside of work, Paula enjoys the gym, reformer Pilates, and walking with her husband Karl. She has two daughters studying at ANU in Canberra and is actively involved at St Luke’s Anglican Church in Mosman, where she has served as Rector’s Warden since 2016 and sings in the church choir.
Lynette Burness
Speech Pathologist
Lynette trained at The University of Sydney. She has worked in a diverse range of settings for over 20 years. Lynette is experienced in the treatment of children with significant communication delays, including those who are non-verbal. She has a great interest and specialisation in treating high-level language difficulties in primary-age children.
She has post graduate specialist training and extensive experience in the treatment of eating and drinking difficulties.

Janine Painter
Occupational Therapist
Janine Painter has worked for nearly 40 years in Sydney providing family-focused paediatric occupational therapy. She began her career in the public health system and early intervention clinics, including the Spastic Centre of NSW (now CP Alliance), where she worked with preschool and school-aged children and later became Deputy Manager. She has extensive experience supporting children with a range of developmental, physical, sensory, and learning challenges.
After starting a family, Janine established a private practice in 1992, initially in the Sutherland Shire and later expanding to the Lower North Shore. She has built a highly experienced team of occupational therapists and continues to provide therapy for children of all ages, working closely with families to set meaningful goals.
Janine’s approach focuses on helping each child reach their full potential by individualising therapy to build functional skills, independence, confidence, and participation in daily life. Her expertise includes fine and gross motor development, sensory processing, self-care, school readiness, and supporting children with complex needs, always in a collaborative, family-centred way.
Julie Chesterfield
Psychologist/Specialist Teacher
Julie Chesterfield has dual postgraduate qualifications in education and psychology. She is a registered psychologist and a specialist teacher. Julie is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS), a Member of the Anxiety Practitioner’s Network and a Member of the Learning Difficulties Coalition of NSW.
Julie has had considerable experience as a classroom teacher and a learning support teacher in both public and private schools. She has had postgraduate training in gifted education and learning difficulties and she has had specialist training in developmental reading difficulties and behaviour difficulties. Julie has also worked in private practice as a psychologist treating adults and children with mental health concerns. Julie has over twenty years experience working with children and families. Currently, Julie is completing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Macquarie University.
Julie understands how difficulty with learning and behaviour erodes a child’s self-esteem and confidence. She fosters belief in the unique qualities and talents of individuals and their need, and right, to fulfil their potential. Julie helps children and their parents to develop strategies to transcend difficulties and foster strengths in the areas of development, learning (literacy and numeracy) and behaviour and anxiety.
Julie’s expertise is in the area of:
- Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessments (IQ and Academic Assessments) – Children and Adolescents
- Individual Therapy for Learning Difficulties – Reading, Maths, Spelling, Written Expression
- Individual Therapy for Psychological Difficulties – Children and Adults

- School Consultation – Learning support including gifted children and behaviour difficulties
- Special Provisions – for external examinations
